NyP Internships

Local Internship Programme

At the School of Engineering, you do not only ‘hit the books’ in all your 3 years of study – you get to experience what working in the real world is like! As final year students, you will be attached to companies in the local industry for a 12-week or 24-week period under the Internship Programme (ITP).

This opportunity will allow you to experience first-hand what it takes to work in the real world – you will be able to put to practice all that you have learnt; you will experience corporate culture, interpersonal relationships and how you can make it all work for you, so that you can succeed in the working world immediately upon graduation!

The support we receive from many companies in the aerospace, precision engineering, automation, electronics, energy, telecommunications, biomedical, material science, business and IT sectors will put you in an advantageous position.

The best part of this whole integral experience is that you do not have to apply for this experience. The ITP is arranged and coordinated by the School. Your module coordinator will then notify you of the details of your internship.

Overseas Internship Programme

Besides the Local Internship Programme (ITP), you can also apply for the Overseas Internship Programme (OITP). The OITP gives final year students an opportunity to work in overseas companies and gain regional and global experience. If selected, you will be attached to an overseas organisation for 3 to 6 months.

Through this programme, you will be able to appreciate and learn the challenges of working and living abroad. Besides obtaining hands-on project development and operational experience, working in environments that are socially and culturally different from Singapore will give you an enriching and memorable experience.

School of Engineering works closely with overseas organisations to engage our students to undertake specific projects for such internship programme. Since the programme started in 1994, many of our students have been placed in companies across the globe, in countries such as Germany, France, UK, Austria, Finland, United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Vietnam, South Africa, etc.

Foreign Student Exchange

To add to the vibrancy of polytechnic life and to expose our local students to working with different nationalities, the School of Engineering at Nanyang Polytechnic has a Foreign Student Exchange Programme. This programme offers internship and attachment opportunities at Nanyang Polytechnic for outstanding international students.

With our strong industry linkages, the School provides these exchange students with challenging, interesting and practical projects which are relevant to their training and academic goals. The aim is to help develop them to the fullest to meet the industry needs and to enrich their student experience. While with us, we provide them with opportunities to contribute, implement and work on industry-related projects.
