2017 / 2018 Secondary One S1 Posting Exercise
WHAT IS THE SECONDARY 1 (S1) POSTING EXERCISE?
The annual S1 Posting Exercise is conducted by the Ministry of Education (MOE) to post Primary 6 (P6) students from our mainstream schools who have sat for the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) and are eligible for secondary school. Students are posted to secondary schools based on merit according to three criteria: students’ PSLE results, their choices of schools and the vacancies available in the schools.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE S1 POSTING EXERCISE?
All P6 students from our mainstream schools who have sat for PSLE and are eligible for secondary school, except those who have been successfully allocated a secondary school place via the Direct School Admissions – Secondary (DSA-Sec) Exercise, can participate in the S1 Posting Exercise.
Successful DSA students who are eligible to opt for Third Language and/or Course Option can do so using the S1 Internet System (S1-IS).
WHEN IS THE S1 POSTING EXERCISE CONDUCTED?
S1 Posting Exercise is conducted in 3 phases, starting from the 3rd/4th week of November after the release of the PSLE results and ending with the release of the posting results in the 3rd/4th week of December. You may refer to National Examination Timetable for more information.
- S1 Option Phase – Parents submit their child’s S1 options after the release of the PSLE results.
- School Posting Phase – MOE posts students to secondary schools taking into consideration their PSLE results, choices of schools and available vacancies.
- Posting Results Release Phase – MOE releases school posting results. Students are to report to their posted secondary schools on the next working day after the release of the posting results.
HOW DO P6 STUDENTS APPLY FOR THE S1 POSTING EXERCISE?
P6 students from our mainstream schools who are eligible for secondary school will each receive a personalised S1 Option Form together with their PSLE results. Parents can use the unique password (S1 PIN) provided in the S1 Option Form to submit their child’s S1 options via the S1 Internet System (S1-IS) during the S1 Option Phase.
If parents require assistance from primary school to submit their child’s S1 options, they may bring the completed S1 Option Form to their child’s primary school during the S1 Option Phase. Parents are advised to make sure the entries in the S1 Option Form are correct and legible.
