NUS Department Of Chinese Studies Singapore Leong Khay Huay Kuan Scholarship

Eligibility and Other Terms

a. The Scholarship is open to Singapore citizens who are of Hokkien descent

(applicants to submit a copy of the Singapore Birth Certificate).

b. The Scholarship recipient must be successfully admitted to the MA by

research programme (full-time) at the Department of Chinese Studies,

NUS.

No. of Scholarship Awards

a. Two scholarships will be awarded to two students.

b. Each selected candidate will be awarded $10,000 annually, up to a period

of two years, subject to the selected candidate maintaining a cumulative

average point (CAP) of at least 3.5 (or equivalent) and to NUS’ prevailing

spending policies.

Application Procedure

Applications may be submitted together with the applications for admission

by 15th May of each year for the January intake or 1st November for the

August intake.

Bond Period

The Scholarship is bond-free.

Conditions

a. The Department Scholarship Selection Committee, comprising the Head

(Committee Chair) or his nominee and the Department Graduate

Coordinator, will shortlist, interview and award the Scholarships. A

member of the Donor will be invited to attend the interview of candidates.

b. No scholarship will be awarded unless there is a candidate of sufficient

merit.
