Land Transport Masters Scholarship

The Land Transport Masters Scholarship is designed to groom and develop our next generation of land transport professionals in a speciality area. Candidates should already possess or is expected to graduate with a good honours degree.

Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Outstanding GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Level / NUS High / International Baccalaureate (IB) / Diploma Results
  • At least 2nd Class Upper Honours degree. Students who are in their final year of study may also apply but award will be subject to class of degree obtained
  • Candidates with work experience are welcome to apply
  • Good track record of co-curricular activities

Conditions of Award

You will be required to study full-time. Duration of studies should not exceed 2 years. You will be required to serve a 2 to 4-year bond with LTA, depending on whether you choose to study locally or abroad, and the duration of studies.

Career Development

As an LTA scholar, you will get to participate in high-level corporate committees, play a part in management’s decision-making, and demonstrate your flair as a leader amongst many others. Scholars with no work experience will get to experience different functions of land transport through job rotation while mid-career scholars will strengthen their expertise by deepening their skills in their chosen area. Your career will benefit from our strong network of international experts as well as opportunities for overseas exchanges, attachments and training.

LTA Local Study Award (Full-term & Mid-term)
If you have a keen interest in Engineering and a deep passion for land transport, the LTA Local Study Award is for you.

Upon graduation, you will join the 5,000 strong LTA family to deliver on exciting large-scale projects such as the Thomson-East Coast Line and Cross Island Line. You will also leverage on cutting edge technology in the development of rolling stock and traffic management, amongst others.

  • National University of Singapore (NUS)
  • Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

Eligibility

  • Good GCE ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level / Diploma / NUS High / International Baccalaureate (IB) results
  • Good University results in NUS / NTU (for current undergraduates)
  • Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident

Conditions of Award

Full-term: You will be required to serve a 4-year bond with LTA.

Mid-term: You will be required to serve a 1-year bond with LTA for every year of study sponsored.

Awardees will be required to undergo a compulsory attachment of at least 8 weeks with LTA.

LTA Local/Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship (Full-term & Mid-term)

The Local/Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship in LTA. It is awarded to candidates who have shown strong leadership qualities, possess impeccable integrity and have a strong commitment in developing the public transport environment in Singapore.

  • Outstanding GCE ‘O’ & ‘A’ Level / NUS High / International Baccalaureate (IB) / Diploma Results
  • Outstanding University results (for current undergraduates)
  • Good track record of co-curricular activities
  • Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Resident

Mid-term Scholarship: You will be required to serve a 1-year bond with LTA for every year of study sponsored locally, or a 1.5-year bond with LTA for every year of study sponsored abroad.

Scholars will be required to undergo a compulsory attachment of at least 8 weeks with LTA.

LTA Overseas Undergraduate Scholarship (Non-English speaking countries)
Fancy studying in Japan, France, Germany or other non-English speaking countries?

Now you will have the chance to pursue an Engineering degree in non-English speaking countries. All that we are looking for is someone with a keen interest in the culture and is willing to take on the challenge of completing tertiary studies in a non-English speaking country.

Why these countries?

You will have the added advantage of being one of our few ambassadors by engaging with our partners and contractors who hail from these non-English speaking countries. For instance, you could collaborate on land transport development opportunities with these countries, update LTA on new transport developments and policies, establish good working relationships with foreign contractors, and even negotiate contracts and business deals. Some of our major partners include Kawasaki, Mitsubishi, Alstom, Thales and Siemens.
