Our Programs

Recreational Fun Football

The English Soccer School Recreational Football ProgramAt ESS the focus is very much on fun – a national network of friendly professionally run training classes where enthusiastic boys & girls (24 months – 16 years old) are given a helping hand to stand firmly on their own two feet.

Of course, we believe that a head start in sport is a fantastic investment in the future and naturally we’d be as pleased as punch if any of our former pupils go on to greater glories in the golden game.

However ESS is not a guaranteed passport to soccer fame and fortune! Our GOAL is to use soccer as a fun forum to instil our growing squad with a little extra confidence, co-ordination, control, patience ability to listen and to understand simple instructions, and sense of camaraderie; which we feel will stand them in very good stead for the future. Furthermore we hope that they become well minded and balanced children.

At the launch of ESS in 2010, pre-school obesity was very much an issue along with children’s lack of co-ordination, agility and fitness.

Engage Educate Excite
A positive, fun-filled soccer programme executed in a friendly, pressure-free engaging environment.

Guided by the likes of English FA and UEFA qualified coaches, pre-school teachers, UK qualified sports and recreational professionals and more importantly pro-active parents, the ESS Nippers programme is an ever-evolving quest to teach fundamental soccer techniques & elementary life skills in a vibrant, group play environment.

Invaluable social skills like listening, sharing, taking turns and teamwork are conscientiously woven into an involving programme that places as much emphasis on simple learning concepts like colors, shapes , well spoken English and numbers as it does on fine-tuning a child’s basic balance, agility and co-ordination . Coordination, agility, balance and accuracy are four general physical skills that are improved through practice which results in positive changes in the nervous system.

A VERY LEVEL PLAYING FIELD
We recognize that every child is an individual, and feel that children develop their skills best when they are playing with others of a similar age and ability. As such, ESS separate children into four distinct age groups, which encourage each child to maximize their involvement and development potential. In summary, the real joy of our 4 stages of learning is that we can offer a gently staggered learning environment for all our children an enjoyable yet challenging programme that is safe and always stays strictly within the child’s comfort zone without them feeling pressurized. Furthermore we adhere to the English FA child protection guidelines and procedures in which we are qualified in.

Age 2 to 3 Setting off at a light trot, is something we refer to as ‘Guided Discovery.’

Simple problem-solving activities provide the perfect informal framework for encouraging our fledglings to advance their basic attention building and listening skills.

By playing fun games that include specific actions and movements children gain greater bodily control whilst simultaneously enhancing their blossoming balance, co-ordination and gross motor skills. Aside from learning how to strike stationary and moving soccer balls during directional play, children and parents also get the early opportunity to share those first unforgettable, goal-scoring adventures.

In essence ESS nippers provides a fun, safe learning environment where your child will be encouraged to move from parent-supported participation, to active, independent interaction.

Age 3 to 4 Children are now at a point where they will be encouraged to participate in structured games and imaginative free-play using at times story book soccer , adding yet another dimension to their already flourishing nimble footwork and application of their improved agility and co-ordination

Basic ball mastery is harnessed via multi-directional dribbling and striking. In addition child interaction and cooperation is actively encouraged as our coaches seek to stimulate greater social skills, sharing and overall team play – giving our pre-school pupils the in-built confidence to step away from their parents/carers and stand proud on their own two feet!

At this stage classes really start to have an impact on improving a child’s physical dexterity, particularly in the lower limbs and feet through a variety of ball-balancing games. The arrival of these newfound skills paves the way for our children to learn how best to move control the ball, their own speed , use dexterity and co-ordination in order to change direction comfortably with the ball at their feet.

Age 5 to 6 With fundamentals mastered ,and a variety of skills and assets at their disposal now our next task is to couple your child’s blossoming physical and social confidence with a greater grasp of how to read the beautiful game. Shielding, first touch play coupled with control and defensive positioning are all classic examples of simple skills that over time will become second nature. Add to this memory improvement, problem solving and team awareness and your child will be quickly demonstrating all the hallmarks of a well-rounded individual with a wider appreciation of team play.

Irrespective of what part sport plays in your child’s future, we honestly believe the capacity to participate in controlled play; to think outside the (penalty) box to concentrate on instructions and visually assess a game will hold them in good stead for the future.

ESS Juniors
Age 7 upwards to 16
There’s no need to leave at 5! ESS juniors were developed in response to popular demand – many children who attend our classes want to continue to build their skills – both physical and social – once they have turned 5. Our ESS recreational philosophy is divided into 3 core areas to enable them to do just this:

  1. Play: the greatest tool for development and learning is self-initiated play, which leads to excited and vigorous participation. This in turn leads to rapid improvement.
  2. Practice: activities with limited touches and turns generally will have limited benefit. Activities with lots of turns and touches will facilitate greater growth at an individual rate within a group environment. Simply put, the more you do it, the better you get!
  3. Understanding: within ESS recreational classes our coaches focus not only on teaching children how to perform a skill, but also to start building an understanding of why the skill is needed.

ESS combines a series of activities that use imaginative play, familiar games, visual skill and creative participation to engage the interest of the child and makes them gain maximum enjoyment from participating.

Recreational and casual soccer activities will be replaced with high intensity, regulated repetition exercises that will prepare players for the match game environment. However, the fun element of football will not be lost through the program which will involve coaches that are English FA/UEFA/HNC qualified from the UK, engaging with players to increase confidence and social intelligence.

English Soccer School  Football Academy

Our fantastic Football Academy is aimed at all players, whether as an individual or part of a team, who want to improve their knowledge of English and their football skills in an international arena, immersed in the home of Football. The course is for students from 9 – 17 years of age and the programme has been carefully planned to ensure the correct balance of professional training, education and recreation time. The course is designed by Keith Boanas , one of the most highly qualified coaches in the game. Students will be coached by our FA English coaches, all of which are FA charter standard. All coaching will be in English and so students will improve their confidence and conversational English during their training.

Teaching Overview

UK Centre Of Education and Development  Language Courses

UK Centre Of Education and Development  English language courses are designed to help students not only increase their knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary, but also their confidence in using English.

Our courses are designed to really help students improve communication skills. Therefore lessons include plenty of opportunities for students to use the language. Classroom activities include role-play, pair-work, group-work, group projects, surveys, questionnaires and games.

Emphasis on communication helps students to use English for a variety of purposes and in a variety of situations. Our aim is simply to build students’ knowledge and confidence of English.

A Typical day with UK Centre Of Education and Development

Students have three hours of English lessons per day from Monday to Friday. Lessons are divided into two parts: Language input and fluency/practice activities.

Language input involves using grammar and vocabulary in various tasks/exercises. Most of the material for this part of the lesson comes from the exclusively designed UK Centre Of Education and Development  workbooks (see below). In this part of the lesson grammatical structures and items of vocabulary are introduced and consolidated.

In the second part of the lesson students take part in group tasks and activities aimed at developing fluency. Tasks could include designing a website or film poster, constructing a classroom survey or producing /acting a dialogue/short play. Whatever the task, the aim is to actively engage students in tasks which involve maximum opportunity to practice communication skills.

UK Centre Of Education and Development  Teachers

Our teachers are qualified professionals the majority of whom hold the Trinity Certificate or Cambridge CELTA teaching qualifications. All our teachers work very hard to provide interesting and fun language lessons. Teachers are friendly and always happy to help.

The first day of the course

On the first day of your English course you will have an introduction lesson in which you will learn some interesting information about topics like English culture and history! You will also speak with your teacher and other students about yourself and your life. You will also do some language and grammar tasks which will help your teacher decide which level class you will join. This lesson is a fun and interesting way to start the course!

The rest of the course

You will join your group the day after the first lesson (usually Tuesday). You will learn lots of useful language in your class and make friends with students who you can practice speaking English with. You will have an UK Centre Of Education and Development  workbook which you will take home at the end of the course. Our English classes are fun and interesting and we hope you will enjoy studying with us.

At the end of the course

On the day before you finish your course (usually Thursday); you will have a short language test with questions about language, grammar and vocabulary. On your last day you will receive an UK Centre Of Education and Development  certificate with information about your progress on the course.

The UK Centre Of Education and Development  workbooks

The materials in our workbooks have been designed specifically to improve our students’ language skills. We have four levels of classes and workbooks:

  • Non-Stop (elementary)
  • Hi-Speed (pre-intermediate)
  • Express (intermediate)
  • Dynamic (Upper Intermediate)

Have a look at some samples of our workbooks which follow. As you will see, our materials have been specifically designed for UK Centre Of Education and Development  students. Our workbooks are unique which means we do not have to rely on photocopying published course-books. Why Singapore

There is hardly any better place than Singapore to enjoy world class education, only so, because of the immense importance and accentuation that the local government renders to it. In fact, the Singapore government spends nearly one-fifth of the annual budget each year on education related expenditure. The emphasis on the importance of education is further echoed by the local climate which promotes excellence. Such an environment may somewhat appear to be challenging at times, but there is no doubting that this rigorous education system provides a stimulating environment to push you to challenge your limits, and eventually emerge an all rounder – versatile and adaptable – ready to enter the workforce.

The Singapore education system also follows closely to that of the British, which has a robust educational qualification system that is widely accepted by education institutes worldwide. As such, students can be assured of a competitive edge against their global counterparts should they wish to pursue higher education in other student friendly countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, or USA. Additionally, the bilingual (English and Mother Tongue) language policy put in place, places a great deal of focus on the English language which will make picking up the language a much simpler task than it appears.

As a student in Singapore, you will also be immersed in a setting of diverse cultures and rich heritage which will form a significant part of your distinctive experience here. Apart from the unique social fabric, the cosmopolitan city which is home to many expatriates and foreign students, will provide a dynamic and exciting backdrop to not just learn, but to also garner a global network of friends.
The fast growing economy and the mounting demand for professionals have also opened up numerous job opportunities to students studying in Singapore. Students who have completed 2 or more years of primary education, or have graduated from a local university may apply for permanent residency in Singapore.

Overall, with an internationally acclaimed education system and a modern, cosmopolitan environment, students can definitely look forward to enjoying a truly rewarding and fulfilling educational and cultural experience in Singapore.

Non Residential Holiday Program

Aimed at kids from 5-14, ESS are once again bringing professional coaches to venues across Singapore Not only is this a brilliant way to stay active during the holidays (and give Mum and Dad a rest!) but we’ll also help kids of all age groups improve their soccer skills.

We have a new curriculum every year that covers the basics of technical and tactical soccer training through the Move of the Day, Teaching sessions, 4v4 tournament, Ladder games and the Skill Challenge.

Move of the Day: Every morning for warm up we do one move to help players develop better 1 v 1 skills. We encourage them to work on it at home and consider it their homework throughout the week and hopefully throughout the year.

Teaching sessions: The sessions are designed to teach technique and tactics through a traditional practice session. Each of our staff runs the same session from our curriculum based on the selected topic to ensure a quality training environment.

4 v 4 Tournament: Small sided games are not only fun they are vital for player development and the 4 v 4 tournament gives our campers both. We have a championship on Friday and T-shirts that can’t be bought, only won, are given to the winners.

Ladder Games: These are small sided rotational games focused on quick transition with a heavy emphasis on individual skill. We have daily prize winners for each ladder competition. These are a favorite.

Skill Challenge: This is new for this year and it is a skill contest against other campers to see who is the best or fastest at pre-determined skill challenges. Each age group will have a winner in each challenge.

Holiday camps occur all year for both local and international school holidays.

There are four basic ESS age groups:

  • 5-8 yrs Basic Training
  • 9-10 yrs Developmental Training
